Soft flow & yin meditation

This class no doubt will add depth and somatic sophistication to your practice… and it is so healing. Helen uses the somatic movements and long holds at the beginning of class before moving in to a flow.

Yin Yoga is slow paced. Stress is applied to the connective tissue - tendons, fascia & ligaments to increase circulation in the joints. It is breath centric with a big focus on nervous system regulation and quietening the mind. We will focus to ground, uplift and resonate body, mind and breath through a physical edge, i.e. stretch that vacillates in and out of comfort to find the ‘just right’ spot.

At the end, experience sound healing along with a guided mindfullness meditation. Instill a life long love to take home a practice that heals.

Restorative Yoga Nidra Meditation

Yoga Nidra is a practice of non-doing and scanning the body. We need only to listen to the meditation instructions that guide us through a systematic and easeful letting go of tension in all the layers of our being so we can rest completely with our truest nature.
Restorative Yoga This practice creates optimal conditions for balancing the nervous system and for allowing energy to flow and restore through the Physical body, the Subtle Energy body, the Emotional body and the Mental body. This type of class is especially beneficial during times of low energy, injury and other stressors.
Yoga Nidra and Restorative includes Sound Healing and Somatic Awareness. You'll receive personal assistance for any prop set-up in the postures.

Sound Healing

Immerse yourself in the healing vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls, Koshi chimes and relaxation music. Helen is intuitively skilled at bringing the mind and body into a sense of peace and well being through sound. In sound healing, tones or various kinds of vibrations and frequencies may be applied specifically to resonate an area of focus on or near the body, or generally into the environment in a group sound bath. When combined with specific and clear intentions that are uplifting and nurturing, a sound healing session can quite literally reharmonize our organs, glands, body systems, emotions, and mind, offering an overall sense of well-being, comfort, and peace. We rest deeply in an expanded state of spaciousness and lightness of being; a state where our bodies can begin to heal.

Energizing Soft Vinyasa

Focus with inspiration to ground, uplift and resonate body, mind and breath. Use vinyasa to heat the body to increase the cardio-vascular pump and build concentration. We advise moving slowly, linking the poses in a way that is smooth that includes steady pacing, detail of alignment through pauses, and longer time in the poses. Yoga is like mid-line training, meaning that all the poses provide students a greater sense for their central axis. Moving against gravity/moving with gravity. Combining compression/ decompression.

This flow class is suitable for everyone - including those 55 years and up who have yoga experience.

Helen offers poetry readings of Thich Nhat Hanh, David Whyte, Zen poems, Yoga Sutras, ‘Koshas’ and ‘Chakras’ when appropriate in all classes. Readings are kept short and simple so you can reflect and enjoy the experience.
